After your starter is received for repair or service it is assigned a
repair ID number and service technician who will personally complete the entire
reconditioning of your product.
Following a complete disassembly all the
major parts are visually inspected and electronically tested.
Using
precision measuring equipment the end housing bushings are checked for proper
size and replaced as required.
The armature is tested for ground, short or open circuits and proper
current flow. When open windings are discovered in our testing procedures we
solder the commentator as needed. After completion of this service procedure
the armature preforms like a new part at a huge savings to the customer. If the
armature is shorted beyond repair we will most always have a replacement
available from our 5000 square foot inventory of repair and replacement
parts.
Replacement of the armature will
increase the repair prices so we always compare prices of quality replacement
units that may be priced less than our final repair cost to the
customer.
Field coils are thoroughly tested for amp draw and ground. A visual
inspection of the cover assures that no premature grounding can occur.
Brush
holders are thoroughly cleaned, spring tension checked and brushes replaced on
every unit. We try to keep the cost of re manufacturing your unit down by re
using the brush holder as long as it test within or rigid
specifications.
Once all required parts are gathered the sub assemblies are put together, checked for proper movement the starter is then fully assembled and all fasteners torqued to specification.
Before receiving it's final coat of factory paint the assembled starter is sent to our Quality Assurance Technician for a 3 step testing process that will assure proper operation and longevity to your repaired starter.
A special note on PMGR Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction starters.
In addition to all the above test and
repairs the PMGR starter's have extensive testing performed on the permanent
magnets to make sure they are within our tight specifications.
All starters repaired at Toledo Auto Electric have the following
warranty
90 days labor and 18 month parts "No
Quibble Warranty".
Our technician's recommend that you make sure
that the battery or batteries are properly charged. Charging system is
operating at peak efficiency and all cables ends and electrical connections are
clean and tight. ![]()
