Alternator,
Generator & Starter Rebuilding.
 |
In today's Throw-Away & Buy-New economy
we are one of the few re-builders in NW Ohio that have the staff with the
knowledge, tools and test equipment to properly re-build starters, generators
and alternators.
Some of the re-builds we are able to perform
are on products that are #1 not replaceable or #2 much too expensive to just
throw away and buy new. |

After your alternator or generator is received for
repair or service we assign a repair ID number and service technician who will
personally complete the entire reconditioning process of your product.
Before beginning disassembly your unit is live tested for proper phasing,
voltage, amperage, ground and bearing noise.
This initial testing allows us
to preform a much better rebuild for our clients.
Following a complete disassembly all the major parts are
visually inspected and electronically tested.
Using precision measuring
equipment the end housing bearings are checked for proper size. All units
repaired will receive new bearings.
We inspect the fan and replace if bent
or worn, measure the fan pulley and replace as required.
The rotor is tested
for field current draw, stator test will indicate any shorts or ground
conditions. Any defective or failing units will need to be replaced. Repairs
requiring rotor or stator replacement will naturally raise the repair cost. We
always check for quality replacement units that may be less cost for our
client.
Rectifier and trio are current flow tested and replaced as needed.
The voltage regulator on internally regulated alternator's are completely
tested and replaced as needed to assure the unit's proper performance. New
external voltage regulators can be supplied from our stock inventory with the
return of your repaired alternator or generator, just let us know that you want
a new replacement regulator.
Brush holders are thoroughly cleaned, spring
tension checked and brushes replaced on every unit. We try to keep the cost of
re manufacturing your unit down by re using the brush holder as long as it test
within our rigid specifications.
We then pull required new parts from our
5000 sq foot inventory
and
assemble all the sub systems of your unit. After final complete assembly the
repaired unit is then sent to our Quality Assurance Technician where a 5 step
testing process is preformed on our test bench that will assure proper
operation and longevity to your repaired alternator or generator.
All alternators and generators repaired at Toledo Auto Electric have
a 90 day labor and 18 month parts "No Quibble
Warranty".
Starter Motor
Recondition

disassembly all the major parts are visually inspected and electronically
tested.

checked for proper size and replaced as required.
The armature is tested for ground, short or open
circuits and proper current flow. When open windings are discovered in our
testing procedures we solder the commentator as needed. After completion of
this service procedure the armature preforms like a new part at a huge savings
to the customer. If the armature is shorted beyond repair we will most always
have a replacement available from our 5000 square foot inventory of repair and
replacement parts.
Replacement of
the armature will increase the repair prices so we always compare prices of
quality replacement units that may be priced less than our final repair cost to
the customer.
Field coils are thoroughly tested for amp draw and
ground. A visual inspection of the cover assures that no premature grounding
can occur.
Brush holders are thoroughly cleaned, spring tension checked and
brushes replaced on every unit. We try to keep the cost of re manufacturing
